Passages

A few years ago, my (Julie) Mom and Sister decided to start a Bible Study where we assign a scripture passage for each month of the year. We reflect on them and discuss them together. It is a great way to be “in the Word” and get together with two of my favorite people! Our faith and scripture knowledge has grown so much. We pick the passages in January and assign them to each month. We have been so amazed at God’s Awesomeness in helping us assign the passage to the right month - the month He knows His words will mean the most.

Recently, we (Julie & Jen) took this Passages concept to our Bible Study group. It is so amazing to see how God speaks to each one of us through His Word. We have taught each other so much through His word. We have shared what God whispered to each of us as we reflect on the Passages.

Our hope is that we can bring some of God’s Word to you through our blog. God’s Word is so powerful, and we hope by sharing it with you, your relationship with Him can grow. We are by no means Bible Scholars. Our reflections are what God whispers to each of us as we reflect on the Passages.

Here are our passages for 2012:

January ~ 2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude.  It does not demand its own way.It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.  It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.  Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

March ~ Colossians 2:6,7
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness..

April ~ Book of Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

May ~ Colossians 3:23,24

June ~ Book of Ruth 1:26,l7
But Ruth said, “Do not press me to leave you or to turn back from following you! Where you go, I will go, where you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God my God.
Where you die, I will die ~ there will I be buried.  May the LORD do thus and so to me, and more as well, if even death parts me from you.”

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.

August ~ Isaiah 40:31
Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.
