It seems like yesterday that we were posting about August Awareness and, suddenly, it's September...How does that happen?
We continue to be overwhelmed with the support, encouragement and inspiration we receive about this blog and for our families. August Awareness has made a difference, and for that, we are happy.
Though August Awareness has ended, our desire to spread awareness about Down syndrome (and many other things!) has not. The 2011 Buddy Walk is less than 6 weeks away! We hope you'll consider participating in this wonderful event in some way...by supporting Little Lauryn's League of Awesomeness by joining our team of walkers and/or making a donation to Down Syndrome Indiana! Help us to realize our dream that Lauryn - and others who have a special extra chromosome - will be accepted, included and valued in our society.
Being the planners that we are, a few weeks ago, we laid out ideas/plans for upcoming blog posts. Our original plan for September was to focus on the beginnings of Fall. As the last days of August have passed by, we've turned our thoughts to several friends and family that are struggling through some tough circumstances. As a result, our focus for September has shifted from Fall Beginnings to Requests for Prayer.
We truly feel that God is guiding us and working through us through this blog. We've spent many hours over the last few weeks praying for others and being amazed yet again by the outpouring of love from others willing to do the same. While we shouldn't be surprised, we have once again been inspired and comforted by the power of prayer.
We've added some new things to the blog that you will want to check out.
Our Passage this month focuses on waiting on the Lord. It is so difficult to be patient and wait for things to play out, especially in times of stress, worry and anxiety. This passage can help us focus our minds to the fact that things will happen in God's time, and He is always with us as we wait.
The Calendar this month includes daily Bible verses to help us "wait". They are wonderful passages that we can turn to in times of struggle and in times when we need some comfort, understanding, and answers from God.
We've added a new area to Sycamore Sisters! The number of people that have responded to our own personal requests for prayer over the last few weeks has been incredible. We have seen little miracles happen again and again. We have been comforted and calmed by knowing that others are praying. We want to expand on this and try to share the comfort, peace and hope prayer brings to us (being prayed for and praying for others) with others.
Our new area is an area for our readers to request prayers and/or encourage/support others through difficult times through thoughts and prayers. Our hope is that this area will soon be not only inundated with requests for prayer, but with comments of encouragement and support for others as they struggle through the ups and downs of daily life.
If you would like to make a prayer request, please email us at sycamoresisters@gmail.com. We will post your request (you are also welcome to send pictures!), pray for you/your loved one(s), and start the comments of support! If you have a special prayer that helps you in times of need, please pass these along to us as well! We would love for our Prayer Request area to be a resource in prayer, as well!
